Allen is the Executive Director of the Global Transpark in Kinston, NC. He previously served as mayor of Greenville, NC from 2011 to 2017 where he oversaw and lead the city through rapid growth and expansion as well as recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew in 2016. Thomas was co-founder of IQMax Healthcare Technologies, the first platform to enable doctors and medical professionals to securely manage their daily workflow by linking and interfacing multiple facilities through their mobile phones and smart devices.
Thomas received his undergraduate degree in Business Management from East Carolina University where he served on various leadership roles with several student organizations and was elected Student Body President. He received his Master of Business Administration from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received the Cahn Fellowship, a scholarship to the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government, Senior Executive Program for State and Local Government.
Thomas has served on the East Carolina Board of Trustees, Board of Visitors, the ECU Alumni Board. He was appointed by the Governor to the North Carolina Senior Advisory Council for Economic Development and was appointed to the 3-person panel overseeing the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Commission and served on Executive Council of Metro Mayors, an organization for the largest cities in North Carolina.
Thomas is married and has 3 children, 2 daughters and a son.
